AKETAUNGA’S ACHIEVEMENTS AWARDED: 2018 NZ RESPIRATORY ACHIEVER
Congratulations to our very own Aketaunga Pureau who was recognised with a 2018 New Zealand Respiratory Achievers' Award from the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ at a ceremony in Wellington on April 19.
She was the winner of the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) category and has come a long way with the management of her COPD since being diagnosed five years ago.
Aketaunga became a Stanford Programme trainer and also completed an IronMāori contest late last year despite her lung condition. She is an active member of Breathe Hawke’s Bay, attending our COPD support group and often volunteering at health promotion events on our behalf.
We are so proud and pleased for Aketaunga and admire the example that she has set for our community.
